The Six Stages Framework for Understanding and Dealing with Gender Discrimination

As I was working on this post I heard America Ferrera being interviewed by Amanpour on #cnnnews

The impossible standards that women are held to:

“We have to be always extraordinary, but somehow we are never good enough.” (Barbie movie)


This framework can be applied to understanding and dealing with gender issues by shifting the focus from racism to gender-related challenges. The Six Stages can be redefined and expanded to encompass the developmental journey individuals may undergo in their understanding and response to gender-related equity and justice.
